What is the least respected job in America? You could make a good argument that the answer is the trash collector. I took a job as a sanitation worker more than 20 years ago. I fully expected to move on to bigger and better things, but the truth is that there is a lot to be said for being the trash guy. The pay isn't as bad as you expect, and the working conditions are pretty smelly but at least you get to be outside. The worst part about the job is the public. I get called names, honked at and generally disrespected all while I am doing the nasty job of getting rid of your waste.
